Health and Safety is of the upmost importance to us; we go above and beyond to ensure the safety and wellbeing of our people.

IS0 18001 accredited

We are accredited with ISO 18001, the occupational standard of health and safety management and best practice. We are committed to continuously improving health and safety as our company grows into new work streams.

Wellbeing

We are the first maintenance and construction company to provide all of our staff with mental health awareness training. We partnered with the national mental health charity, Chasing the Stigma, to deliver its Ambassadors of Hope mental health training programme.

Ambassadors of Hope is a fully Ofqual accredited 20-minute training programme, giving staff a better understanding of mental health and advice on providing signposting to those who need help via the free Hub of Hope app. It also provides information on how to deal with a mental health crisis.

We have also installed the Hub of Hope app, which was created by Chasing the Stigma, onto all work smart phones. The app allows people to find local, national and grassroots support at the click of a button and is the UK’s most comprehensive nationwide mental health support database. You can find the Hub of Hope app here

We have several mental health first aiders employed across the business, providing a confidential platform for our staff to talk if they need support.

Environmental Policy

Environmental Policy

M&Y acknowledges the environmental implications of its activities and will ensure that all operations are carried out in order to achieve a high standard of environmental, health and safety care.

The Managing Director and Managers of the company fully recognise their duties with regard to compliance with relevant environmental legislation standards and regulations and will work towards the most effective methods, and adopt a position of responsibility by committing to a policy of continual improvement and pollution prevention.  This policy will be made available internally to our staff and externally to our suppliers and contractors.  The policy is available to the public when requested. 

The environmental impact of any awarded contracts will be fully considered as an integral part of “new business” policy.

AIMS

  • Provide guidance on environmental management
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation, regulations and standards
  • Monitor progress on a regular basis with a view to improve environmental performance
  • Annually review our progress and monitor our achievements against set targets and objectives
  • Improve our surrounding environment through gardening & community events
  • Reduce M&Y vehicle fleet carbon footprint
  • Improve waste management at M&Y – less waste to landfill.
